Max Lofy hoped to turn over a new leaf this 2025 by leaving the Wisconsin Badgers for Rice University but that will not happen anymore after a heartbreaking news related to his health.

The senior cornerback announced on X that he was forced to medically retire after doctors found complication on his heart.
“Due to recent findings in my clearing process here at Rice, I have decided to medically retire from football,” Lofy wrote on X.
“Multiple complications concerning the health of my heart have been brought to my attention, and after talking with multiple doctors and my family, I’ve decided this is the best option for my future and the future of my family.”
Lofy’s post was accompanied with pictures from his football days with the Badgers where he spent three seasons.
“Thank you football!! The game has taught me so much and I am excited for what lies ahead!! All praise to the most high❤️,” he said in the caption.
Max Lofy’s time with the Wisconsin Badgers
Lofy has his time with the Badgers to keep and to brag despite an unfortunate end to his football dreams.
He came to the team in 2020 as a three-star recruit and made his debut as a true freshman in 2020 and then as a redshirt freshman in 2021.
He turned heads in 2022, his best season in Badgers uniform, when he recorded 15 total tackles and one interception.
His momentum was derailed after he was forced to sit out the 2023 season due to injury.
He became the Badgers’ starting cornerback last season although in limited appearances. He played in nine games and recorded three tackles.

Lofy is still hoping he could return to the game.
“This does suck, but I will remain steadfast in my Faith, knowing that Jesus’ grace is sufficient for me, and that I am made powerful through my weaknesses and tribulations,” he said.
