The Wisconsin Badgers have continued to work on the 2027 recruiting cycle and now are close to securing visits with some top targets.
One such target is three-star edge rusher Chris Kasky, a native of Illinois who has seen his stock rise quite a bit throughout the summer. Kasky picked up a scholarship from the Wisconsin Badgers back in May and stated he was “shocked” by the offer. Coach Tuf Borland was the staff member who had the opportunity to extend the offer and did so after visiting Kasky at his school.
Since then, the defender has received offers from Miami (OH) and Iowa with many more programs keeping close tabs moving forward. Michigan, Michigan State, and Illinois have all scouted Kasky but have not extended scholarships yet, which could change the trajectory of his recruitment.
Kasky entered the 2027 class as an athlete with some programs who see potential in the defender in 4-3 defenses and others seeing potential in 3-4 defenses. Regardless of the defense Kasky is in, the athlete understands how to cause chaos and slow down opposing offenses with ease.
Wisconsin Badgers Looking to Secure Visit With 2027 Edge Target Chris Kasky
While Kasky is an athlete and can play multiple positions, the Badgers see Kasky as an edge rusher and believe the recruit can have the most impact on the field as one. With a role and position set, the Wisconsin staff has decided to push hard for the recruit and will look to secure a visit during the upcoming season.
Currently, Kasky has visited Iowa (twice) and Purdue while also spending time on the campus of Michigan State. Louisville, Minnesota, and Kansas are also programs to watch in the future as each aims to become closer with the recruit over time. The recruit has displayed interest in once again visiting Purdue and Iowa during the upcoming season alongside the Wisconsin Badgers.

Ultimately for the Wisconsin Badgers, Kasky is a recruit that both excites the staff and fits into exactly what the program aims to achieve on defense. The high intensity, aggressive play of the defender is something that the staff feels is hard to find and continuing to work with the recruit is a certainty given his skillset. Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell previously stated the staff had been looking to add “players who excite” and peak the interest of various members with Kasky being one such recruit.
Illinois has become a valuable recruit hotbed for the Wisconsin Badgers, with top commitments Jaylen Williams and Jahmare Washington joining the program during the 2025 cycle. Dillan Johnson, Grant Stec, Darrion Dupree, and Kyan Berry-Johnson highlight the additions to the 2024 class that came from Illinois. Wisconsin does not have a 2026 class commitment from the state, but aims to change that during the 2027 cycle.
