Wisconsin Badgers Freshman DB Taking Big Steps Forward Following Fourqurean, 2025 News

As the Wisconsin Badgers wait patiently on news regarding defensive back Nyzier Fourqurean, another player has stepped up during practice.

Omilio Agard, a former three-star cornerback in the 2024 class, signed on with Wisconsin as a notable addition. Agard is a dynamic defensive back from Philadelphia who rose through the 2024 class rankings and  committed to the Badgers over Penn State, Tennessee, and other programs.

Agard joined the program last year and impressed in practice, but ultimately took a redshirt season as development was needed. The defensive back has taken plenty of strides forward this off-season, and it is safe to say Agard has impressed the staff. With fellow defensive back Fourqurean currently sitting idle with his eligibility case ongoing, Agard could be the man the staff turns to once the season begins should Fourqurean still be ineligible.

Wisconsin Badgers Keen on Having Omilio Agard Takeover For Nyzier Fourqurean If Needed

Currently, the Wisconsin Badgers and Fourqurean do not know what the future holds, but preparing for both possible outcomes of the defensive back playing or not during the upcoming season is crucial. No exact moves have been made, yet, but the man currently ready to take on the new role would be Agard.

Not only has Agard excelled in practice and played well against the offense in situational drills, but the defensive back also has the tools to fill the same role. Agard stands in at 5-foot-11-inches, and roughly 185-pounds with both a solid yet versatile frame in the secondary. Agard is surprisingly strong for his size and taking down moderately large running backs or receivers is not a problem for the defensive back.

Where Agard truly excels is through the air, which is coincidentally where Fourqurean had played his best football for the Badgers. The defensive back has great body control, excellent field awareness, and a great frame for shutting down would-be big plays through the air.

For the Wisconsin Badgers, losing Fourqurean would be a loss like no other for a variety of reasons, but the biggest being the shock factor. The situation Fourqurean and the Badgers are currently in is one that has not only not occurred before in program history, but also could be a historic one. Both Wisconsin and the Badgers fans did not know this was a possible outcome after previously retaining eligibility in February with a preliminary injunction.

Agard would be the correct player to take over the position for Fourqurean, but the loss would still sting especially from a team chemistry point of view as the defensive back is a veteran leader and a key part of the day-to-day functions of the program. Agard could certainly fill the shoes of the defensive back on the field, but perhaps the loss that will be harder to replace is what Fourqurean offers to the team off of the field.
