Carter Gilmore continues to write down the best ending to one’s college basketball career with another impactful game for the Wisconsin Badgers.

His team cruised to an 85-66 victory over the Montana Grizzlies in the first round of 2025 March Madness.
Although the final score does not show it, the Grizzlies still managed to threaten the Badgers. Good thing for them, they got a player like Gilmore who is ready to do the dirty work for the team and is capable of rousing the squad and the fans to prevent the opponent from gaining momentum.
Gilmore, a senior, scored just eight points but three of those pierce through the heart of the Grizzlies.
Money Williams made a lay-up in the 15:14 mark of the second half to bring themselves closer to the Badgers, 51-47. Their joy did not last that long as Gilmore hit a three pointer right away.

He even taunted the opponents after that incredible play.
That was the closest they got in the game. Wisconsin controlled the temp from then and finished with a 19-point lead.
Carter Gilmore’s impact on Wisconsin Badgers off the stat sheet
Gilmore is an energy guy. The dunks, the rebounds, and even his three points is something to cheer for amongst fans.
That’s what Blackwell sees, too, on his veteran.
“He’s a major key to our team,” Blackwell said as quoted by Badger Blitz.

“He’s a sparkplug off the bench. He’s a vet. He knows his role and excels in his role. He’s a guy that is always going to give us energy, zero points or 15 points, his energy is not going to go down. We love him for that and are going to keep going.”
They will need more of that energy in the second round. They will face Brigham Young University Cougar’s who won their first ever NCAA tournament against VCU Rams.
