The Wisconsin Badgers previously worked tirelessly to land a top running back but that work could potentially be for nothing soon.
Amari Latimer, a four-star running back within the 2026 recruiting class, committed to Wisconsin in spectacular fashion after spending a chunk of time on campus officially and unofficially. The Badgers made Latimer a priority and landing the recruit became something the staff was committed to seeing through until the end.
While the Badgers hold a solid verbal commitment from Latimer, signing on as a member of the program is still months away. Plenty of programs who were previously in touch with the running back have once again returned and aim to flip the commitment of Latimer. Georgia, Florida State, Texas, and Georgia Tech have all been in consistent contact with the recruit since his commitment to the Wisconsin Badgers became official.
Miami (FL), Michigan, and Oregon had all been programs to watch previously but backed off as the recruit notified teams of his commitment to the Wisconsin Badgers. While some programs backed away, other programs retooled and are now pushing for the running back once again with hopes that time has changed the mind of the recruit.
Wisconsin Badgers Fending Off Florida State, Georgia to Keep Commitment Amari Latimer

Latimer recently received a stack of official offers which has reignited the recruitment of the running back and could lead to more calls in the near future. While Georgia offered Latimer and aims to keep the talented running back close to home, Florida State and Texas consider Latimer to be a top remaining option currently. Both programs will be ones to watch moving forward as the running back continues to work his way through the recruiting process.
Since announcing his commitment, Florida State and Texas have both worked hard to try to persuade the recruit to hit campus once again and reconsider. Latimer has not done so, however, and has also not spoken to the Badgers about potentially operating his recruiting process in such a manner. The commitment of the running back currently is solid and should remain that way moving forward.
