Matt LaFleur has most of his team assembled for the Green Bay Packers’ mandatory minicamp. This includes his star cornerback Jaire Alexander, who missed much of last season with a shoulder injury. After practice on Wednesday, LaFleur was asked about what Alexander brings to the team in practice:

Most notably, LaFleur stated multiple times how Jaire Alexander elevates the players around him. Alexander, along with Eric Stokes and Rasul Douglas, are among the top graded defensive backs in the NFL.
Jaire Alexander Has Always Done What Was Needed in Practice
As mentioned, Jaire Alexander missed most of last season with a shoulder injury. As he neared his return, he became ready to practice with the team. At the time, the Packers were thin at the wide receiver position due to injuries and COVID. Matt LaFleur’s solution? Have Alexander play wide receiver in practice, of course!
That’s right! Heading into the Packers’ Week 18 game against the Detroit Lions, Jaire Alexander lined up on offense for the first time since he was in high school. Even back then, LaFleur stated how the injured Alexander brought much needed energy to the practice field.
What Will Jaire Alexander’s Role Be in 2022?
Jaire Alexander signed a massive four-year $84 million contract extension with the Green Bay Packers this offseason. Additionally, the Packers signed Rasul Douglas to a three-year $21 million deal back in March. Along with Eric Stokes, Green Bay has a trio of immensely talented cornerbacks. The question is, where will they all play?
When Jaire Alexander was hurt, Rasul Douglas and Eric Stokes lined up as the outside cornerbacks. When Alexander returned in a very limited capacity, he lined up in the slot. While all three backs are more than capable of playing in the slot, it is likely going to be Alexander who gets most of the reps at that position.
