Aaron Rodgers’ first full season with the New York Jets hasn’t gone as planned. The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas, and they’re eliminated from playoff contention with their 4-11 record.
Aaron Rodgers is having a subpar campaign by his lofty standards The 41-year-old has completed 62.8% of his passes for 3,511 yards, with 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions, and he was also sacked 33 times in 15 matches this year.
Despite this, Aaron Rodgers treated the entire New York Jets offensive line with some cool gifts. But even with the awesome gesture, his future in New York remains uncertain.
The four-time NFL MVP prefers to stay in the Big Apple, but the New York Jets could go in a different direction. If the team decides to blow it up for a full-scale rebuild, they will likely no longer need Aaron Rodgers’ services.
Tyrod Taylor tabbed by NFL analyst as Aaron Rodgers’ replacement
Aaron Rodgers has one year remaining on his $112.5 million contract with the New York Jets. They will have a huge gap in their quarterback room if they cut Rodgers and his mammoth contract.
Connor Hughes suggests that the New York Jets should enlist Tyrod Taylor as their QB1 next season if that’s the case, given his rapport and familiarity with his teammates.
“I genuinely believe that the best person they can turn to if they choose to move on from Aaron (Rodgers) is Tyrod Taylor, who’s under contract for 2025. Taylor is your quintessential bridge quarterback, someone whose teammates absolutely love. He is someone who can hold down the fort of an offense. He is someone who will electrify fans with his legs & his ability to take deep shots,” Hughes said on the Jets Class show.
“He’s not perfect. There are absolutely durability concerns…But he is somebody the Jets can rely on. I still think that Tyrod Taylor can get the Jets to the playoffs next season.”
