The San Antonio Spurs got one back from the Milwaukee Bucks after losing to them two weeks ago and for Stephon Castle, this game says a lot about their capability as a young team.
The Bucks and the Spurs went toe-to-toe with each other from first to the end of the third quarter.
However, the hosts outscored their visitors, 45-30, to enter the last frame comfortably.
The Bucks never got their rhythm back despite the efforts of Giannis Antetokounmpo who was not subbed off until there was only three minutes left, after he had a heated confrontation with Chris Paul.
The Spurs manhandled the Bucks led by an MVP contender and that is enough for Castle to think they can hang out with them, especially the starting unit.
I feel like the starting group, we were kind of even with them (Bucks). We were getting stops, scoring in transition, and then they would go on their runs, get stops, and go transition,” he said after the game.
Castle did not forget his bench though, especially Kaeldon Johnson who had 24 points, the second highest scoring output of night behind Victor Wembanyama who had 30 points and six blocks.
“But I feel like Keldon’s energy off the bench in the first half kind of kept us in that game because that could have went a different way for us.”
What the loss meant for the Milwaukee Bucks?
The loss meant they are a bad road team.
The Bucks are currently 1-3 with two more games away from Fiserv Forum – back to back against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The also missed the presence of Bobby Portis who remains out due to personal reasons.
The big man could have been a reliever for Antetokounmpo who was a work horse during the night and had to bleed for all his 35 points.
With the loss, they are now 26-20, same number of loss with fifth seed Indiana Pacers.
