Alex Karaban’s dagger three against the Marquette Golden Eagles was so good he earned the admiration of Shaka Smart.

The University of Connecticut Huskies star left Golden Eagles fans with their knees on the floor after he hit a 3-point shot with 25 seconds left to make it a two-possession ball game, 70-66.
Game was pretty close and for anybody’s taking up to that point.
Marquette had a chance to get a little closer and were forced to foul and he made both free throws to make it a 6-point lead.
Kam Jones, who tied Karaban’s 21 points, attempted from the three point line but to no avail. Marquette falls.

The win is a repeat for the Huskies who defeated the Golden Eagles during the National Marquette Day.
It snapped Marquette’s two-game winning streak although they remain at no. 3 in the Big East standing, one spot above the Huskies.
Marquette Golden Eagles had a plan vs Alex Karaban
The junior forward has scored at least 13 points in the teams last four games and his 21 against Marquette is the highest in that period.
Coach Smart knows what he is capable of and he made sure that the Huskies player knows that.
“I told Alex Karaban ‘That’s what you do, man,'” he told reporters when asked to elaborate on his conversation with the player.
“He’s a winner.”

He also revealed that their plan was to prevent him from getting the ball but they failed.
“We went down to get it out of there, they got the ball out to Alex Karaban. And he did what he does. He’s a winning guy. He’s a guy that’s made that shot a million times and he took it with no hesitation.”
