Brewers starting pitcher Corbin Burnes gets ready to crown shortstop Willy Adames with a cheesehead after the shortstop hit a two-run home run during the first inning against the Astros on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field.
The Milwaukee Brewers have lost some talented players over the last few years. Josh Hader and Corbin Burnes were both traded prior to reaching free agency, Willy Adames just signed the biggest contract in San Francisco Giants history, and more departures could be on the way as Devin Williams is expected to get moved this winter. That being said, it’s possible that Burnes and Adames could reunite on the west coast.
Willy Adames plans on reaching out to Corbin Burnes to discuss joining the San Francisco Giants
During Willy Adames’ introductory press conference, the topic of Corbin Burnes came up. Adames said, “I haven’t talked to him, but I will definitely give him a call after today. Obviously you always want a guy like him. You’re always going to have guys who are going to compete out there for you. And having a guy like that would be such an amazing addition. But that’s something that is not in my hands, and obviously there’s a lot of work to do for that. But I will give him a call later.”
Could two former Milwaukee Brewers hold the largest contracts in Giants franchise history?
When Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey signed Willy Adames to a seven year, $182 million deal it surpassed the largest contract in franchise history, that coincidentally was previously held by Posey himself. If Corbin Burnes signs with San Francisco, it would likely be a deal over $200 million. This would then give two former Brewers players the largest contracts in the history of their franchise.
