On October 1 of this year, Buster Posey was announced as the Giants new President of Baseball Operations.  He replaced Farhan Zaidi, who managed just one winning season during his six year tenure.   Posey’s first big move in an attempt to restore a winning culture to the Bay Area was signing a personable player in Willy Adames to the largest contract in franchise history.

“I think to win championships you have to have personalities like Willy that they’re able to identify with everybody in the clubhouse, and that’s not just players. I heard from multiple people that Willy treats everybody with the utmost respect. He plays with energy, he plays with joy and I know that our fans are just going to be thrilled to watch him compete on a daily basis.”

One of the key factors that influenced Willy Adames’ decision to sign with San Francisco was his admiration for Buster Posey’s accomplishments as a player with the Giants, followed by his compelling vision for the team’s future. Adames expressed complete confidence in Posey’s ability to bring the right players into the clubhouse, believing that once that foundation is set, the players will take care of the rest.

“I think that was the biggest reason that I’m here.  What he (Buster Posey) accomplished here as a player was such a dream, and I was growing up when I was watching that, but it was such a great run. Those championships were amazing.”

“Hopefully we can win a few championships like you did and that’s one of the main reasons I’m here.”
