Wisconsin college basketball remains among the best in the country as the Associated Press revealed the result of Coaches Poll 25 with Wisconsin Badgers and Marquette Golden Eagles inside Top 15.
The surging Golden Eagles, still undefeated in the Big East with 8-0, is ranked fifth behind Kansas Jayhawks (received the most votes at 36), Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and Kentucky Wildcasts.
At no. 6 is Marquette’s Wednesday match-up Iowa State Cyclone. Completing the Top 10 are Gonzaga Bulldogs, Purdue Boilermakers, Duke Blue Devils, and Alabama Crimson Tide.
Wisconsin Badgers was only good enough for an 11th spot.
DePaul Blue Demons, Big East’s second best team, received just 3 votes while 3rd placer Xavier also dropped in the rankings.
The Golden Eagles are coming off two dominant wins last week when they defeated Stonehill and Western Carolina.
The Badgers, on the other hand, defeated rivals Chicago State Cougars and escaped Pittsburgh Panthers, 81-75.
Marquette Golden Eagles and Wisconsin Badgers latest schedules
The Golden Eagles will have very busy first week of December as they take on Iowa State who are currently 5-1 but will be coming off a week-long rest.
Cyclones coach T.J. Otzelberger is savoring the rest and he is confident his team has shown growth in their last few games.
“I think we grew up a lot in these three days,” he said. “Throughout the season, you have to handle adversity. You have to handle success. We were fortunate here from that perspective to have to fight through both.”
After that, they will take on the Badgers in a highly-anticipated rivals match.
Before that though, Badger will have their hands full with a meeting with the Michigan Wolverines currently at 6-1.
