The Green Bay Packers are starting their 2024 NFL Draft prep and it is never too early to discuss who Green Bay can draft in all seven rounds this season. In the first round, they will own the 25th overall pick. The Packers can continue to build their young and promising football team through the NFL Draft. Green Bay will have 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Some of the needs this football team will need this offseason are running back, cornerback, safety, and offensive line. Thank goodness they do not need to draft a quarterback since Jordan Love seems to be the quarterback for the long haul and he will probably get a contract extension this offseason.

They will have six picks in the fourth through seventh rounds. Who is one of the possibilities the Green Bay Packers can take in those rounds?

A Sportswriter Mentions The Green Bay Packers Should Take Oregon Running Back Bucky Irving On the Third Day of the 2024 NFL Draft

Ricardo Goncalves, a podcaster at PodBackBr told Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Sports about who the Packers should target on the third day of the 2024 NFL Draft. One of the names he mentioned was Oregon running back Bucky Irving.

The reasoning that Goncalves gave Ferreira was:

“With A.J. Dillon slated to be a free agent and Aaron Jones nearing 30 and with recent availability/durability concerns, the Packers need to plan for the present and future of the running back position. In this context, selecting Irving would be excellent. He could come in, share the backfield, and eventually take on a larger role, possessing all the necessary traits. Irving is one of the best in the class at receiving passes, has excellent explosiveness and speed, consistently generates big plays, and can hit a home run from anywhere on the field. Elusive and challenging to tackle in open space, he shows great balance and above-average physicality for his size. He would fit well in the Packers’ outside zone plays, and his versatility allows him to be moved around the field, put in motion, and utilized to create favorable matchups. It’s challenging to predict how the league views this RB class and where they may be drafted, but there’s a real chance Irving could rise significantly on draft boards. Selecting him on the third day of the draft would be excellent value.”

Bucky Irving is 5’10” and weighs 195 lbs. This past season with the Oregon Ducks, he rushed for 1,180 yards on 186 carries and 11 touchdowns. Irving also averaged 6.3 yards per carry. He also caught 56 passes for 413 yards receiving and two touchdowns and averaged 7.4 yards per reception.

Aaron Jones will have one more year left on his contract and it is very possible that the Packers won’t re-sign AJ Dillon this offseason. The running back room could use some fresh faces. It is possible that Green Bay will draft a couple of running backs in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bucky Brooks from Oregon is the latest example and he would be a good choice for the Green Bay Packers. It is very possible they could take some other running backs in Day 2 like Blake Corum of Michigan, Jonathan Brooks of Texas, or Braelon Allen of Wisconsin.
