Pittsburgh Pirates veteran Andrew McCutchen is so close the 300 home run career milestone.  He last homered 11 games ago on August 22, but now an injury is going to cause him to miss the remainder of the 2023 season.

Andrew McCutchen is to miss the remainder of the season due to injury (Pittsburgh Pirates News).

Pirates beat reporter Justice delos Santos indicated that Andrew McCutchen was going to be placed on the 10-day IL with a partial left Achillies tear.  He is expected to remain in a walking boot for the next six weeks.  Unfortunately there is only three and a half weeks left in the regular season so he will not return this year.

Injuries are never a good thing but the timing of this is rather unfortunate.  McCutchen sustained this injury against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday when he camp up limping after hitting a double.  He hobbled off the field and was diagnosed with Achillies tightness at the time.

Hopefully 36 year old Andrew McCutchen is able to rehab from this nicely and he is able to return for the 2024 season.  Prior to this injury he had indicated that he had more left in the tank. Being one home run shy of 300 may also be extra motivation to get back out on the field.
