Carolina Panthers No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young admitted in his post-practice availability that he was once a DoorDash delivery driver.
Panthers QB Bryce Young Worked This Surprising Job at Alabama
That’s right. Before Young raked in $3.5 million of NIL deals, he could have been delivering chicken parm right to your doorstep. Only it would have been impossible to recognize Young because he said he only wore a mask and hoodie. Young was a freshman during the COVID-19-shortened season and would only accept ‘drop it at my door’ orders.

How surprising is it that Bryce Young worked at DoorDash?
It’s not surprising at all. Fans forget before NIL came into play, this was an athlete’s life: Practice, schoolwork, and trying to find a way to make money.
It worked out for Young because he became one of the top NIL earners, but he was like everyone else when he started college. He didn’t have NIL money coming down the pike despite his immense talent.
Being a D-1 football player is a full-time job, and with a number of practices, preparation for a game each week can be time-consuming. Having that same schedule, but at Alabama, where the expectation is national championship or bust, can make having another job impossible.
Luckily, Young didn’t have too much pressure because he served as a backup to Mac Jones during the 2020-21 season. Still, coming out of college as the No. 1 high school recruit, Young already had pressure on him to be the next great quarterback at Alabama.
He became that and more as he won a Heisman Trophy, was selected No. 1 overall, and signed a rookie-scale extension worth $37.9 guaranteed. However, Bryce Young was just another college student at one time.
