The Green Bay Packers know that their offense will need some attention this off-season. With Christian Watson expected to miss the start of the season after his devastating week 18 injury, a wide receiver is quickly developing into one of the biggest needs.
Going into the season, Green Bay seemed to not only be confident in their wide receiving room, but thought it was one of the better position groups on the whole team.
However, the Las Vegas Raiders could help Green Bay add even more fire power.
Packers – Raiders Pegged To Start Serious Trade Talks (Report)
Green Bay Packers wide receivers seemed overstocked at times last season. That situation changed drastically at the end of the 2024 season:
Thanks to injuries to Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, and Romeo Doubs, the Packers were trotting out a combination of Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton in their NFC Wild Card matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now, with Watson expected to miss roughly two-thirds of next seasons with a torn ACL, the Packers may want insurance at the receiver position via trade.
Fortunately, the Las Vegas Raiders may have the solution, in the form of steady veteran Jakobi Meyers.
On Tuesday, Joe Summers of FanSided urged the Packers to consider trading for Meyers, while noting that Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst had spent time talking to Raiders personnel at the Shrine Bowl earlier in the day.
“Someone like wide receiver Jakobi Meyers could be an intriguing option as well, especially after Christian Watson’s devastating knee injury that’ll keep him out for most of the regular season,” Summers wrote”
“Jordan Love needs more weapons and Meyers is an accomplished receiver who’d immediately become a starter on this team.”
In Meyers’ six-year NFL career, 2024 was his best season yet. Following Davante Adams’ trade, he became Las Vegas’ top wide receiver and posted his first 1,000-yard season, with four touchdowns and no fumbles.
Getting Jordan Love more consistency on the outside would be huge for their team. Meyers has had a very consistent career:
