It has been seven years since the Green Bay Packers have played a Thanksgiving game. In 2015, they hosted the Chicago Bears and lost 17-13. The last Packers’ win on Thanksgiving was a 27-15 victory over the host Detroit Lions on November 24, 2011. From 1950-2015, the Packers played on Thanksgiving Day 26 times. In eight of those games, a Packers’ player scored two or more touchdowns. Here’s a quick summary of those multi-TD Thanksgiving games:
Packer players with multi-TD games on Thanksgiving Day
2007: Greg Jennings, 2 touchdowns, Green Bay 37-26 win over Detroit: Jennings caught a pair of TD passes from Brett Favre.
2001: Ahman Green, 2 touchdowns, Green Bay 29-27 win over Detroit: Green had a 26-yard rushing TD and was on the receiving end of a Favre pass in the third quarter for this second TD of the game.
1994: Sterling Sharpe, 4 touchdowns, Green Bay 42-31 loss to Dallas. Sharpe had four TD receptions, one in each quarter, from Favre in the game. It was the second time in his career that he caught four TD passes in a game.
1986: Walter Stanley, 3 touchdowns, Green Bay 44-40 win over Detroit. Stanley caught two TD passes from QB Randy Wright in the second and third quarters and then got his third TD on a game-winning punt return in the fourth quarter. It was his only three-TD game in the NFL, and exactly half of the six career TDs he scored during his NFL career.
1961: Jim Taylor, 2 touchdowns, Green Bay 17-9 win over Detroit. Taylor had a pair of one-yard TD runs.
1959: Paul Hornung, 2 touchdowns, Green Bay 24-17 win over Detroit. Hornung had two first-quarter TD runs and then kicked a 39-yard field goal to give the Packers a 17-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.
1952: Billy Howton, 3 touchdowns, Green Bay 48-24 loss to Detroit. Rookie receiver Howton had three TD receptions from QB Tobin Rote.
1951: Carl Elliott, 2 touchdowns, Green Bay52-35 loss to Detroit. Elliott had a pair of TD receptions, one from Rote, the other from Bobby Thomason.
