Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur isn’t banking on any secret advantage, or intel gleaned from Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs accidentally leaking some of the terminology that might be used in his team’s game plan for Thursday night’s showdown between bitter NFC North rivals.
Gibbs, who has rushed for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season, accidentally appeared to leak some key elements of the Lions’ terminology for certain players and plays in a social media post earlier this week.
And, while perhaps the leak may have forced head coach Dan Campbell and the Lions to spend some extra time over the past few days altering their terminology ahead of Thursday’s contest at Ford Field, LaFleur doesn’t expect the incident to pay much of a factor or give Green Bay any edge.
“It’s not something that we, I would say, over-talk,” LaFleur said, per NFL Network’s Kevin Patra. “I think the guys understand that nobody wants their information out there for the whole world to see. So, we try to keep everything in-house here. But I don’t think it’s like the end of the world, either. I don’t think you gain a real competitive advantage off of that, personally.”
