Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has completed an interview for the New York Jets head coaching vacancy, the team announced Friday.
In Hafley’s first season with the Packers, Green Bay’s defense improved markedly, finishing 11th in total defense, while holding opponents to 347.8 yards of total offense per game.
From a big picture perspective, perhaps more importantly than climbing the overall rankings in 2024, Hafley was instrumental in All-Pro safety, and 2024 free-agent signing Xavier McKinney having the most dominant season of his career as well as rookie Edgerrin Cooper finishing the season as one of the NFL’s premier linebackers.
Hafley, 45, is considered a bit of a rising star among NFL coaches and left his mark on the Packers’ defense–particularly in the secondary, in his first season in Green Bay after spending the prior four seasons as Boston College’s head coach.
