The Green Bay Packers are no strangers to the Super Bowl. Appearing fives times and winning four, Green Bay has been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL during the Super Bowl era.
However, the Super Bowl being hosted in the city of Green Bay is something that has never happened. One former legend spoke about that exact topic.
Green Bay Packers Legend Talks Possibly Hosting The Super Bowl (Report)
On Twitter, former Green Bay wide receiver responded to the following question:
Do you ever think the NFL will ever let GB Host a Superbowl or No… just because of cold weather?
His Response:
The fact that the NFL Draft will be in Green Bay is a step in the right direction. There’s so much that goes into a Super Bowl host city. Simply hosting the team and them both having quality indoor facilities to practice in is just an example.
A number of factors are taken into account by the NFL when selecting Super Bowl host cities, such as the stadium itself, local alcohol laws, and entertainment options nearby. To host the Super Bowl, you must meet the following criteria:
- Market that hosts an NFL team
- Minimum 70,000 seating capacity
- Average gameday temperature of at least 50 degrees Fahrenheit
- Dome (for stadiums that don’t meet prior requirement)
- Practice space of equal and comparable quality for both teams
- Hotel spaces equaling 35 percent of stadium’s capacity
- Space for the Gameday Experience, NFL Experience
The NFL would have to break some of their rules if they ever wanted a northern city like Green Bay, Minneapolis, Buffalo, or any other cold city to host the Super Bowl. Here is a look at the upcoming host cities:
- Super Bowl LIX: Feb. 9, 2025 – Caesars Superdome (New Orleans, LA), home of the New Orleans Saints
- Super Bowl LX: Feb. 8, 2026 – Levi’s Stadium (Santa Clara, CA), home of the San Francisco 49ers
- Super Bowl LXI: Feb. 14, 2027 – SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, CA), home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers
- Super Bowl LXII: 2028 – Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta, GA), home of the Atlanta Falcons
