NFL News: Aaron Rodgers is officially a member of the Jets. Just days before the 2023 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets came to a massive agreement that sent the four-time MVP out east. This was agreed upon nearly six weeks after Aaron Rodgers declared his intent to play for the Jets in mid-March. The Jets already had one starter on the defensive side suffer a serious injury, now it looks like may be without one offensive starter for the start of the season.
New York Jets Running Back Breece Hall Questionable To Start The Season (NFL News)
The New York Jets are reportedly in the mix to sign Dalvin Cook. One could argue that they don’t actually need him, as they already have Breece Hall there. However, if the Jets aren’t confident in Hall’s ability to play week one, signing Cook would make a lot of sense.
Breece Hall was well on his way to becoming one of the best players at his position in the NFL last season before he tragically tore his ACL in the team’s seventh game of the year. Recovering from an ACL injury is different for every player. “I’ll be ready when I’ll be ready,” Hall said. “Obviously, I hope I’m ready [for Week 1], but you never know. I’m just taking it a week at a time and letting my knee do what it does.
Could The New York Jets Actually Sign Dalvin Cook?
With a little more than $23 million in current cap space, the Jets wouldn’t have any trouble affording Cook if he’s interested in signing with them. Depending on how badly they want him on their roster, New York could even fulfill the veteran running back’s desire to make close to what he was going to earn with the Vikings next season (around $10 million).
Cook recently mentioned that he wants to return to playing in an offense that utilizes an outside zone running scheme, which just so happens to be what the Jets are expected to use in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. The fit could honestly make a lot of sense for both parties.
