NBA news: Former Milwaukee Bucks guard Jeff Teague has been making all sorts of headlines of late. Recently, the former All-Star shared a story about his age-old beef with ex-teammate Tracy McGrady during their brief time together with the Atlanta Hawks. These two just didn’t see eye to eye, and at one point, Teague revealed that he “wanted to fight that him so bad.”
NBA News: Tracy McGrady Calls Cap on Jeff Teague’s Fight Story
Teague made his revelation on a recent episode of his podcast, The Joe Budden Podcast. For his part, T-Mac caught wind of the message, and he just had to call out Teague for the same:
“say anything on these podcast smfh,” McGrady commented on an Instagram post.
The Hall of Famer did not say anything else about the narrative, but based on his brief comment here, it is clear that he disagrees with Teague’s account.
For what it’s worth, this supposed beef all started when a young Jeff Teague clashed with McGrady when the latter signed a one-year deal with the Hawks during the 2011-12 season. This was McGrady’s final year in the NBA, while Teague was still trying to make a name for himself in just his third season in the league.
NBA News: Jeff Teague Denies Making Story Up
In a recent interview with Complex, Teague was asked to comment on McGrady calling cap on his story. The former Bucks champ doubled down on his claim by saying that he doesn’t have any motivation to make this type of narrative up:
“Nah because I ain’t never think that was going to go viral,” Teague explained. “We didn’t have that many people watching the show at first and I don’t got no reason to lie. I mean, I was a fan of T-Mac. I’m still a fan. It just happened.”
Teague was then asked if he’s bothered about how players like T-Mac feel whenever he comes out with these stories on his podcast. The former Wake Forest standout got brutally honest with his response while also heaping praise on McGrady:
“Nah, I don’t try to tell anything that’s too revealing,” Teague said. “I don’t think it made T-Mac look bad in a way. Everyone knows he’s a great player. He’s one the GOATs, he’s one of the premier two-guards but it was just a story with us. You meet somebody you idolized from afar and it was like ‘damn, I got to compete against this dude.’ It wasn’t no hate. I was just like the annoying little brother. I ain’t take it personal, I hope he didn’t.”
Teague did reveal that he’s already reached out to McGrady to guest on his podcast so that they can finally settle this issue. T-Mac has yet to respond, though.
