Bobby Portis got ejected from Wednesday’s game against the Indiana Pacers after coming to the defense of Giannis Antetokounmpo. If asked to do it again, though, the Milwaukee Bucks forward wouldn’t hesitate. He’ll do anything for his teammates, any time and any day–on or off the court.
Portis said as much when asked about his ejection postgame, highlighting: “I mean, just all my teammates, man. I’m just here for everybody, man.”
“I got everybody back no matter what it is, no matter what time of day it is. It could be 3 in the morning, you call me, I’m up. I’m ready. It don’t matter what day of the week it is, who we playing, wherever it is, I always got everybody’s back,” Portis doubled down, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Milwaukee Bucks fans will certainly love to hear that from Bobby Portis. While others would say that it’s more logical to stay calm in such situations, the fact of the matter is they are all competing. They cannot let the other team punk them, and they have to show they are ready to take them head on no matter what.
Portis is beloved in Milwaukee because of his toughness, grit and loyalty, and he certainly scored more points in the eyes of the Bucks faithful with his actions even if he was ejected.
Why Was Milwaukee Bucks Forward Bobby Portis Ejected?
As mentioned, Bobby Portis was thrown out of the game after he defended Giannis Antetokounmpo. It happened less than two minutes into the fourth quarter after the Greek Freak was fouled hard by Indiana Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith.
As Antetokounmpo was driving to the rim aggressively, Nesmith clobbered himand yanked him from his shoulder before throwing him down to the ground. It was definitely an unnecessarily hard hit, which sparked the anger both Portis and Giannis’ brother, Thanasis.
While Thanasis was held back from the sidelines, Portis quickly confronted Nesmith. It earned the Bucks big man a technical as the referees considered him an “escalator” in the said situation. Portis exited the game with 19 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Sure enough, Portis couldn’t care less about the ejection. He sent a strong message that no one can hurt his teammates without him retaliating, and that’s something that the rest of the team can definitely appreciate.
Portis is an important piece for the Bucks, and it’s great to see him bring some much-needed toughness and ferocity to a team dreaming of winning a championship.
