The Milwaukee Brewers had many questions entering the 2024 MLB season. One of those questions was how would manager Pat Murphy be after being the bench coach during the 2023 season. Craig Counsell was the Brewers manager in 2023 and then became the Chicago Cubs manager in 2024.
Chicago missed the playoffs in 2024 and Milwaukee won the National League Central Division Title for the second consecutive season with a 93-69 record. Murphy had a lot of success with the Brewers this season and will look to for many years to come.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Named National League Manager Of the Year Finalist
On Monday, the MLB Twitter page announced the finalists for the National League of the Year Manager finalists. They were Murphy of the Brewers, Mike Shildt of the San Diego Padres, and Carlos Mendoza of the New York Mets.
Along with Muprhy being successful this season with the Brewers, Mendoza led the Mets to an 89-73 record and a playoff berth after starting the 2024 season very slowly. As for the Padres, they also finished with a 93-69 record and also had the first wild card spot in the National League.
All three of these managers deserve to be finalists in the National League. However, Murphy will most likely win the award because no one expected a small market team to succeed again this season without Craig Counsell. who was also successful with the Brewers.

Regardless of people’s thoughts around the playoff decisions, it’s undeniable that this man did the most with what most of baseball media perceived to be the least.
Pat is a superhero in my book.

He got as far as Counsell did…. Same year, same result.

This will be a very close decision by the baseball writers in who to choose for the National League Manager of the Year. It would be upsetting for the Brewers fanbase if Murphy didn’t win the award.
