Minnesota Vikings signal-caller Sam Darnold is easily one of the most surprising stories in the 2024 NFL season. There were not a lot of people who believed he was going to have the kind of season he is putting together as the Vikings starting quarterback when he inked a one-year deal with the team.
But here he is, just fresh off leading the Vikings to a ninth win in a row after taking down the Green Bay Packers in Minneapolis on Sunday, 27-25.
Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold continues to write incredible story with new team
With the win over the Packers, Darnold made NFL history, as he became just the first quarterback to win 14 games in his first season with a new team, breaking a tie with legendary quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Steve McNair.
“Yeah it’s just it’s unbelievable first and foremost,” the 27-year-old Darnold said after the game when asked about his thoughts on his historic feat (via NFL on FOX).
“It’s the guys in that locker room the coaching staff obviously. You know, it’s it’s all of us that make it work, and again just so proud of the guys in that locker room.”
Against the Packers, Darnold passed for 377 yards and three touchdowns with an interception while completing 33 of his 43 throws for the Vikings, who moved to the top spot of the NFC North standings.
The Vikings can win the NFC North title outright with a win over the Detroit Lions in Week 18 at Ford Field in Detroit.
