The NBA trade deadline is on February 6 and, as the day gets closer, Milwaukee Bucks fans are anxiously awaiting a move that will help improve their team’s chances of competing for another NBA Championship. Over the last few days, especially, Bucks fans were almost convinced that Milwaukee would end up getting two-time All-Star Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls. Betting odds even had the Bucks as the favorite to land him.
Unfortunately, LaVine is heading elsewhere in yet another NBA blockbuster trade.
Milwaukee Bucks Trade Target Zach LaVine Has Been Dealt to the Sacramento Kings
According Shams Charania of ESPN, LaVine has been included in a three-team trade that is also sending All-Star point guard De’Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings to the San Antonio Spurs. LaVine is heading to Sacramento as part of the trade:
Full trade:
Spurs: De’Aaron Fox, Jordan McLaughlin
Kings: Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first round picks (2025 CHA, 2027 SAS, 2031 MIN), three second round picks (2025 CHI, 2028 DEN, 2028 own back)
Bulls: Zach Collins, Tre Jones, Kevin Huerter, their own 2025 pick via SAS https://t.co/UgwylCUYAO

Unfortunately, the Bucks just do not have the draft assets that other teams had in order to compete for LaVine. The earliest first round pick they can trade is their 2031 selection, and most of their second round picks in the foreseeable future were already traded away.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Are Not Thrilled About Missing Out on Zach LaVine
With LaVine off the market, there are not really any realistic All-Star caliber players for which the Bucks can trade. Sure, Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal are still on the market, but Milwaukee has not showed as much interest in them as they did LaVine.
Understandably, Bucks fans were disappointed:

It remains to be seen if the Bucks will do anything significant at the trade deadline. We still have a few more days to wait.
