The Milwaukee Bucks have been at the center of trade rumors for much of the 2024-25 NBA season. After they started 2-8 and lost six games in a row, many fans and analysts started to propose trades that revolved around stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.
Since Milwaukee started to improve, though, those trade proposals fell to the wayside and others involving Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis, and Pat Connaughton started to gain steam. With multiple NBA All-Stars being made available, and with the Bucks likely in need of a more consistent third option, there have been many rumors linking them to players like Jimmy Butler, Bradley Beal, and Zach LaVine.
And according to one NBA insider, Milwaukee actually does have interest in one of those players.
The Milwaukee Bucks Have Interest in Trading for Chicago Bulls Star Zach LaVine
Of course, if Milwaukee is going to pull of a big trade, there are several dominos that need to fall. They would have to find a team to take on Connaughton’s contract, and then they would have to package Portis and Middleton together to make salaries match.
And while many have started to believe this would never happen, NBA insider K.C. Johnson recently reported that the Bucks have shown interest in acquiring LaVine from the Chicago Bulls:
When discussing the many rumors surrounding the alleged interest in the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns to work out a trade involving Butler and Beal, Johnson stated that one team that would be interested in getting involved in the deal would be Milwaukee if they can get LaVine from Chicago.
“The Milwaukee Bucks, who do have interest in Zach LaVine, will be one of those teams trying to get in on that deal,” Johnson said.
LaVine is averaging 24.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 51/44/76 from the field.
Obviously, that 44% three-point percentage would be great alongside Giannis and Lillard, who consistently drive into the lane and kick out to open shooters.
That being said, LaVine is averaging 17 shot attempts per game. The only two players averaging that many shots per game for the Bucks are Giannis (20.7) and Dame (17.2). Portis is third with 11.2 shots per game.
Of course, Portis and Middleton being jetsoned in the trade would mean there would be more shots available.
