Earlier today, it was reported that the Milwaukee Bucks had converted the contract of point guard Ryan Rollins from a two-way deal to one that is fully guaranteed. NBA rules dictate that a player on a two-way contract can only play in 50 games.
Rollins has played 39 games for Milwaukee this season. The Bucks have 23 games remaining, and though Rollins has seen his playing time diminish since Kevin Porter Jr. was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers at the NBA trade deadline, he obviously still has a role on the team, one Milwaukee did not want to risk losing.
Milwaukee Bucks Point Guard Ryan Rollins Became a Fan-Favorite Early in the Season

Prior to the 2024-25 NBA season, Milwaukee had signed Delon Wright to be the backup point guard behind Damian Lillard. Rollins was signed to a two-way contract almost as an after-thought.
However, it was not long before it became apparent that Wright was not the player the Bucks hoped he would be. After averaging 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 39/37/83 from the floor last season, he averaged just 2.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game for Milwaukee while shooting a dismal 27/25/56 from the floor.
Wright was traded to the New York Knicks for Jericho Sims at the deadline.
Rollins, meanwhile, has averaged 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 45/35/83 from the floor.
Milwaukee Bucks Point Guard Ryan Rollins Felt He Deserved a Guaranteed Contract

After the news of Rollins’ promotion broke, Eric Nehm of The Athletic revealed comments Rollins made last week regarding a possible guaranteed contract:
“Ah man, I feel like I earned it, so it would just be the fruits of my labor. Still a lot more to get, still a lot more to improve on, but step in the right direction for sure. That’s all you can ask for, for real.”
Rollins’ contract is guaranteed for the rest of the season, but does not have any more years added on to it. He will be a free agent at the end of the year, but can still be re-signed by Milwaukee.
