Heading into the 2024-25 NBA season, the Milwaukee Bucks signed former Miami Heat point guard Delon Wright in free agency. The plan, of course, was for Wright to backup Damian Lillard and lead the Bucks’ bench unit. Unfortunately, that did not end up happening.
Wright struggled mightily to begin the season and was eventually banished to the end of the bench. In 26 games with the Bucks (two starts) he averaged just 2.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 27/25/56 from the floor.
Last season, spent with the Heat and Washington Wizards, he had averaged 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 39/37/82 from the floor.
Ryan Rollins Became an Early Milwaukee Bucks Fan Favorite

Fortunately for the Bucks, they had Ryan Rollins on their roster thanks to a two-way contract that he signed with the team over the summer. Where Wright flopped, Rollins flourished.
In 39 games with Milwaukee, Rollins has averages of 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 45/35/83 from the floor.
And while his playing time has dropped off significantly since the Bucks acquired Kevin Porter Jr. at the NBA trade deadline, he still provides Milwaukee with some insurance at the position. Wright, by the way, was shipped to the New York Knicks at the deadline for Jericho Sims.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans Are Thrilled the Team Gave Ryan Rollins a Guaranteed Contract

Despite the lack of playing time lately, the Bucks still find value in having Rollins on their roster. NBA rules dictate that players on two-way contracts can only play in 50 regular season games with their team before they have to be released.
As mentioned, Rollins has played in 39 games.
With the NBA Playoffs coming up, the Bucks wanted to ensure they would have their insurance policy at the point guard position for the stretch run, so they converted his two-way contract to a guaranteed one for the rest of the season.
The Milwaukee Bucks are converting two-way guard Ryan Rollins to a standard NBA contract for the rest of the season, agents Mike Silverman and Brandon Grier of Equity Basketball told ESPN. To fill their now open two-way roster spot, the Bucks signed guard Jamaree Bouyea, who is averaging 20 points per game this year for the Austin Spurs of the G-League.
