The Milwaukee Bucks have a 24-17 record and are the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. There is a chance that the Bucks look to acquire help for Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the NBA trade deadline.
There is also a possibility that Milwaukee will decide to be a seller instead and unload some contracts for future acquisitions. One team that could potentially be sellers at the NBA trade deadline this season is the Phoenix Suns. Phoenix has a 21-21 record in the NBA this season and is the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
Dalton Sell Of the Behindthebuckpass.com Thinks That the Milwaukee Bucks Could Land Phoenix Suns Guard Bradley Beal At the NBA Trade Deadline
There have been talks about Bradley Beal being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks for the last couple of years. Beal was traded from the Washington Wizards to the Phoenix Suns before the start of the 2023-2024 NBA season.
Dalton Sell of behindthebuckpass.com ranked his top three trade targets for the Bucks ahead of the deadline. He had Beal ranked third on his list and then said:
“There’s been a lot of chatter about the Bucks and Bradley Beal, especially after insider Marc Stein mentioned that Milwaukee has been painted as a team more likely to go after him than another big name on this list in Jimmy Butler. Though that report feels more speculative than anything, there is still a legitimate shot the Milwaukee Bucks poke around on what it would take to get Beal.
Beal is currently having one of his least productive seasons to date, averaging 17.5 points and 3.3 assists while shooting 38.5 percent from deep. Those aren’t terrible numbers for a third fiddle, but considering he is making over $50 million in each of the next three seasons, there are undoubtedly some concerns regarding whether he’s worth gutting a sizeable portion of their roster.
One sizeable issue with Beal is that he’d be an awkward backcourt fit with Damian Lillard due to his lack of defensive prowess. The scoring between these two would be lethal, but who is taking on the tough assignments when it comes to other guards? It just wouldn’t make much sense for a team in the market for perimeter defenders or athletic big men above all else.
Many would argue that Khris Middleton is the better fit right now, and he makes $20 million less. Unless the Bucks are getting additional assets, such as draft capital, to take on Beal’s monstrous contract, it feels unlikely that they’d make a legitimate play for him, and rightfully so.”
On paper, Bradley Beal sounds like a better third option than Khris Middleton does for the Milwaukee Bucks. Beal has played in 30 games this season for the Phoenix Suns and Middleton has only played in 18. Bradley Beal would be a starter for the Bucks and Middleton has been coming off the bench.
The former Washington Wizards guard would be a better fit with Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo at the moment. Milwaukee is still missing its third reliable option.
Beal Has Not Worked Out For the Suns
A season ago, the Phoenix Suns were the sixth seed in the Western Conference and lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in four games in the postseason. This year, they are on the verge of missing the playoffs. The big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal don’t appear to be working for them.
This is one of the reasons why the Suns might want to trade Beal to either the Milwaukee Bucks or elsewhere before the NBA trade deadline. If Milwaukee could land him in a trade before the deadline, it could be intriguing for them.
