The Milwaukee Bucks have been criticized over the past few weeks for letting veteran guard Jrue Holiday walk away for All-Star Damian Lillard. NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins reminded the franchise of their decision as the current Boston Celtics starter is playing well in the Finals.
Holiday made his entry into the NBA as the 17th pick for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2009 Draft. Over the course of 11 years, he solidified his status as one of the league’s premier two-way players while representing the Sixers and the New Orleans Pelicans. Throughout that period, the veteran guard maintained averages of 15.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Following unsuccessful attempts to build a championship-contending team alongside Anthony Davis in New Orleans, the versatile guard was acquired by the Bucks in 2020 to bolster their backcourt rotation. With Holiday orchestrating the offense, Milwaukee dominated the regular season with a 46-26 record and secured the NBA Finals championship in 2021, ending the franchise’s 50-year title drought.
However, in the recent offseason, the Bucks front office pursued a different direction, trading Holiday to acquire Lillard. This move aimed to provide the Greek Freak with an elite-level shot creator instead of a defensive-minded guard. Consequently, the one-time NBA champion found himself donning the Boston Celtics jersey this season, and they have advanced to the Finals after defeating the Indiana Pacers.
Milwaukee Bucks Receives Harsh Jrue Holiday Reality From Kendrick Perkins Amid NBA Finals

Before the NBA Finals, Kyrie Irving managed to change the narrative of his career by helping the Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks go far in the playoffs. For NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, though, Holiday is emerging as the better player in a video posted by ESPN’s Get Up on X.
.@KendrickPerkins says Jrue Holiday has outplayed Kyrie in Game 1 and 2 of the NBA Finals 👀
“Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks, they’re losing sleep right now. They gave up on Jrue Holiday. … And all of a sudden, he’s with the Celtics making it happen.” pic.twitter.com/GyFcjRfWBP

So far, Holiday has averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.3 steals per contest during the playoffs this year. He has also made several crucial plays that have helped Boston overcome their opponents, including the Mavs, Pacers, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Miami Heat.

Without a doubt, Holiday is proving his worth in a series that’s leaning towards Boston. The coming days will see whether the veteran guard can get the job done against Doncic and company.
