As expected, Milwaukee Bucks stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez got a considerable amount of votes for the 2023-24 NBA All-Defensive teams. Neither of them garnered enough votes to be named as part of the first or second team, which comes as a bit of a surprise, particularly on the Giannis front.
However, what’s even more shocking is the fact that Bobby Portis actually got one vote for the All-Defensive squad.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Bobby Portis Hailed as Top NBA Defender
Bucks fans know all too well what Portis brings to the table for the squad — both the good and the bad. However, even the most loyal Milwaukee supporter will probably have to admit that defense is not exactly one of the big man’s strong suits.
Well, according to an anonymous voter, Portis stands out as one of the best defenders in the entire NBA.
The league released the final vote tally along with the announcement of the first and second All-Defensive teams. One of the biggest shockers is the fact that Portis was voted into the long list of contenders:

Portis is all the way at the bottom of the list, right above Myles Turner, who happens to be one of the best rim protectors in the NBA today. The fact that Portis and Turner got the same number of votes is a travesty in itself.

The fans on X, formerly Twitter, were not at all in agreement with how the vote went. In particular, the fact that Portis was added to the list has drawn calls to have the entire voting system reformatted:
