The NBA is set to return in a couple of months and Milwaukee Bucks sophomore Andre Jackson Jr. is ready to prove his worth on the court. But before the 2024-25 season commences, the young wing left an impact on his hometown as an emerging star for the franchise.
Despite the Bucks’ struggles with injuries to key players, like two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star guard Damian Lillard, Jackson continued to shine last season. The 36th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft made an impact with his athleticism, non-stop motor, and intangibles that translated to winning.
Although Jackson’s scoring numbers may not be eye-catching, he fills crucial roles for the Bucks. His defensive intensity and ability to guard multiple positions have been invaluable, as he picks up his man 94 feet from the hoop and battles on the glass. Offensively, he provides another ball-handler and connector, showcasing his high basketball IQ and unselfishness.
After falling out of the regular rotation following the coaching change, Jackson has re-emerged in the playoffs, seeing his playing time increase in each game. The Bucks have been a +21 in the 47 minutes and 15 seconds he’s played, as his energy and effort have made a tangible impact.

Apart from his impact on the court, Jackson has also made his presence felt outside of it. In an article shared by WNYT, the Bucks star was seen helping out in his hometown of Amsterdam, New York.
“Albany Academy grad and NCAA national champion Andre Jackson Jr. hosted a gathering at the Creative Connections Clubhouse in Amsterdam Saturday. Nearly 100 kids and families were treated to food, games, clothing, and school supplies,” the WNYT article stated.
Jackson grew up in Amsterdam, New York and attended The Albany Academy, where he was named the New York Sports Writers Association Class A Player of the Year. He then played college basketball for UConn and won the 2023 NCAA championship.
While the Bucks face an uphill battle to win their series, the young star’s performance has been a bright spot. If he can continue to build on this, he could secure a regular role moving forward, providing the team with a versatile, high-energy player who does the little things to complement their star talent.
