On Friday night, former Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton would be facing his former team for the first time against the Washington Wizards. The Bucks won that game over the Wizards by a final score of 104-101.
It felt strange for a lot of Bucks fans to see Middleton wearing a Wizards jersey during the game. Khris Middleton scored 12 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two assists during the game. There were a lot of unhappy Milwaukee fans when he got traded from the Bucks to Washington D.C.

One of the biggest stories this NBA season for the Bucks was trading Middleton to the Wizards. He finally got a chance to speak in depth about the trade with Eric Nehm of The Athletic. Khris Middleton had some intriguing words to say about the trade and said:
“I’ve had many opportunities. I mean, that’s the way I’ve kind of looked at it. My time ran out. Simple as that. I mean, I could say my time could have ran out a long time ago. They held onto me, believed in the potential, believed in the work that they saw. But I think this time, it was just, we think a different route is better for our team going forward. And I can’t do nothing but respect that.”
He is right that he felt like that his time could have run out with the franchise before this season, but the Milwaukee Bucks decided to move on from him now rather than earlier. It was in the best interest of both parties to move on from each other. Middleton was always banged up and he was removed from the starting lineup and coming off the bench before he was traded to the Washington Wizards.
Next Steps
After this season, it would be hard to believe that Middleton would pick up his player option for the 2025-2026 season with the Washington Wizards. He would be free to sign anywhere he wants this offseason if that’s the case. Khris Middleton is 33 years old and he would probably not go back to the Milwaukee Bucks, but there is a chance that a different team could sign him and put him in a bench player role.
He was one of the most important pieces during the 2021 championship run, especially when Giannis Antetokounmpo injured himself during the Eastern Conference Finals against the Atlanta Hawks. Middleton will always be remembered for putting the team on his back during those games and winning an NBA title during the 2021 season against the Phoenix Suns.
