Alarm bells were going off nonstop in the early goings of the 2024-25 NBA regular season for the Milwaukee Bucks. Concerns about the team were on a high right away, as the Bucks lost eight of their first 10 games in the campaign.
But Milwaukee superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was not among those who pushed the panic button. He did not even touch it. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player always has confidence in his team and especially in himself, and it’s showing in his play on the court and the success the Bucks are having of late.
It was always about getting down to work regardless of the team’s record for Antetokoumpo.
Via Eric Nehm of The Athletic:
“You still do it. You still kind of buckle up. You still lock in a little bit more, but I believe in myself,” Antetokounmpo told The Athletic following the Bucks’ win over the Orlando Magic on Dec. 10. “I really do believe in myself. I do. I really do believe in my work that I put in. I believe in my mindset. I believe everything about myself. I really do.
“Good or bad. Win or lose, play well, play bad, I don’t care. I really believe in myself, and I believe in my abilities. I know this will not have been a season that we will be down. No, no, no. I knew we would turn it around because I know myself. I really know myself. When things go bad, people fall, I kind of get a little bit more — how can I say it — I have a little bit different edge about me.”
The Milwaukee Bucks have turned things around after a brutal start
The early-season struggles appear to be nothing but a thing of the past now for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, who also have just won the 2024 NBA Cup on Tuesday, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in Las Vegas, 97-81.
The Bucks, who are now 14-11, and have won 11 of their last 13 games, will take a much-deserved rest before getting back on the court on Friday for a marquee matchup versus the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.
