The Green Bay Packers have made a long-awaited splash in free agency with the signing of San Francisco’s Aaron Banks. The best offensive guard in this year’s free agent class, Banks is heading to Wisconsin on a 4-year deal worth $77 million.

The Green Bay Packers Adding the Talented Aaron Banks
Guard Aaron Banks was one of the top offensive linemen available in free agency this year. With the San Francisco 49ers unable to pay the rumored price of around $18-20 million per year, Banks tested the free agency market and gained interest from both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings. However, the Green Bay Packers are the team that swooped in to secure the massive left guard.

The Packers currently have Pro-Bowler Elgton Jenkins at left guard, meaning a position change for either Jenkins or Banks is likely on the way. Banks could play at right guard, or Jenkins could be kicked inside to center. Jenkins has played almost every position on the offensive line during his career and could be flexible to accommodate Banks.
Aaron Banks has played 1,068 pass blocking snaps over the past two years and has allowed ONE sack.

Packers fans are delighted by the news, pleased to be bolstering the offensive line. If Jenkins is indeed moving to center, it would likely spell the end of Josh Myers’ time in a Packers uniform. Last season’s starting center is currently a free agent.

Aaron Banks was a better guard last year than Josh Myers was a center if you want to view it as a one-for-one exchange.
I want to see the real contract details before evaluating that part of the move. https://t.co/mH7LIDNXlp

In any case, quarterback Jordan Love has another big-time offensive linemen to help protect him. Banks is regarded as one of the better pass-blocking interior linemen in the league. The interior trio of Banks, Jenkins, and Sean Rhyan will also be formidable in the run game.
