Giannis Antetokounmpo got the better of Victor Wembanyama in the first meeting of the 2024-25 NBA season, as the Milwaukee Bucks secured a 121-105 win last Wednesday at Fiserv Forum.
The Greek Freak finished with 25 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists on 11-for-21 shooting from the field. Meanwhile, Victor Wembanyama, aka The Alien, had 10 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks on 4-for-10 shooting from the field in the losing effort.
Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama went at each other early in the game, as the former kept dunking and the latter knocked down one-legged three-point shots and highlight reel-worthy layups.
The Milwaukee Bucks forward guarded Wembanyama on multiple occasions, using his physicality, much to the fans’ delight, especially since they were winning the match.
Milwaukee improved to an 18-16 record, good for fifth in the Eastern Conference. San Antonio dropped to 18-19, good for 10th in the Western Conference.

The Milwaukee Bucks and the San Antonio Spurs will meet again on January 31, and Giannis Antetokounmpo couldn’t wait to face Victor Wembanyama again.
According to the two-time NBA MVP, he likes taking on Victor Wembanyama since he brings out the best in him, particularly on the defensive end.
“He’s an incredible talent. He’s probably one of the most talented players I’ve ever watched on TV and played against,” Antetokounmpo said about Wembanyama via Ben Steele of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“This is his second year in the league. He’s way better than his first year. He’s going to keep on improving. He has a very, very bright future. He’s just got to keep working on his game, working on himself. Playing the game with joy,” he added.
