The Milwaukee Bucks are 13-11 on the season and in the sixth seed of the Eastern Conference despite getting off to a woeful 2-8 start to the 2024-25 NBA season. The team they are ahead of in the standings, the 14-12 Atlanta Hawks, happen to be their opponent in the NBA Cup Semi-Finals on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier this season, the Hawks snapped Milwaukee’s season-saving seven-game winning streak, knocking off Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks 119-104.
While today’s NBA Cup matchup is still an early-season game, it carries a great deal more significance for both teams as the winner will advance to the in-season tournament finals. For the players, the difference between playing in and winning the NBA Cup Finals and being eliminated in the semi-finals is several hundred thousand dollars.
Will Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Play vs the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Cup Semi-Finals?
All season long, Giannis, the two-time NBA MVP and 2019-20 Defensive Player of the Year, has been a fixture on the Bucks injury report. While he has only missed two games, his right knee tendinopathy is something that he will continue to fight through all season.
Fortunately for Milwaukee, the injury is not expected to keep him out of the NBA Cup Semi-Finals against the Hawks. He is listed as probable, as is Khris Middleton and MarJon Beauchamp.
The Greek Freak, of course, is the NBA’s leading scorer thus far this season, averaging 32.7 points per game while shooting 61.2% from the floor.
The Atlanta Hawks Injury Report vs the Milwaukee Bucks
While the Bucks have three players on their injury report (and each are expected to be available), the Hawks have a lengthy list of injured players:
- Dominick Barlow- Questionable (G-League, Two-Way)
- Bogdan Bogdanovich- Probable (Left quad contusion)
- Mouhamed Gueye- Questionable (G-League, Two-Way)
- De’Andre Hunter- Probable (Right knee injury management)
- Jalen Johnson- Questionable (Right ankle sprain)
- Seth Lundy- Questionable (G-League, Two-Way)
- Keaton Wallace- Questionable (G-League, Two-Way)
- Trae Young- Probable (Right Achilles tendonitis)
- Cody Zeller- Out (Not with team)
Zeller has not been with the Hawks all season due to personal reasons.
