To no surprise, Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmnpo was named one of the five Eastern Conference NBA All-Star Starters on Thursday night. The 2024 NBA All-Star Game will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana.
What was also announced on Thursday night is that Antetokounmpo will be the team captain for the Eastern Conference All-Stars. This is also the fourth time in six seasons that he will be a team captain for the Eastern Conference All-Stars.
For the first time in his NBA career, he is the leading vote-getter for the NBA All-Star Game. Lebron James of the Los Angeles Lakers has been the leader for the last seven seasons and that streak ends for him. Antetokounmpo has been one of the most dominant players in the NBA this season.
The other starters for the East in the 2024 NBA All-Star Game will be Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
It will be interesting to see who the reserves will be for the East All-Stars. So far this season, Giannis Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.3 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 6.2 APG, 1.1 BPG, and 1.3 SPG. Antetokounmpo is ranked third in the NBA in PPG, fifth in the NBA in RPG, and 19th in the NBA in APG. He can very well be one of the finalists for NBA MVP this season.
