Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard made his debut with the franchise on Thursday and exploded for 39 points in a 118-117 win at home over the Philadelphia 76ers. Lillard was amazing from start to finish in this one. He also grabbed eight rebounds and recorded four assists, along with shooting a perfect 17-of-17 from the free-throw line. This was also Adrian Griffin Jr.’s NBA head coaching debut as well.
The Bucks needed every single one of these free throws in that game. Giannis Antetokounmpo said after the game about Lillard:
“I think he was unbelievable today…says a lot about him, a lot about his charcter.”
Antetokounmpo was not joking when he mentioned that this is Lillard’s team moving forward. Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded a double-double himself in this contest with 23 points, 13 rebounds, and three assists.
Not only was Antetokounmpo happy with Lillard’s performance, but so was the fanbase. They were excited when they acquired him via trade from the Portland Trail Blazers, but after one game of this experience with him, they are looking to 81 more of these during the regular plus the playoffs potentially.
Milwaukee Bucks Fans React to Damian Lillard’s 39-point Game
There were only positive reactions from this Bucks fanbase after Lillard scored 39 points against the 76ers in his Bucks debut. Here is what some of the fans had to say on Twitter about his performance on Thursday night:
Damian Lillard is my point guard. This is a dream.

Is there a world in which we emerge from this season thinking Damian Lillard was the Bucks’ best player?

Damian Lillard posting one of the best individual Bucks performances I’ve ever seen in his first-ever Bucks game seems like a promising start to his Bucks tenure. What a superstar.

Down the stretch, Lillard hit some clutch shots for the Milwaukee Bucks in order to secure the win. He told the media after the win about some of the shots he made down the stretch:
“That’s a look that I’ll take seven days a week. That’s a comfort shot.”
It is a very good thing that Lillard is already getting comfortable playing for this franchise alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. We are going to hear about this duo all season long. This is only the beginning, Bucks fans; this could possibly be an amazing ride to the finish line this season.
