    Milwaukee Bucks: Damian Lillard Being Named All-Star Starter Draws Mixed Reactions on NBA Twitter

    The time has come. For the first time in what has been an illustrious career, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard will finally be an All-Star starter this year. This is after the 33-year-old was officially voted as part of the starting five for the Eastern Conference along with teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, and Tyrese Haliburton.

    After being in a neck-and-neck race with Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young for the second and final backcourt spot in the starting five for the East, it was Lillard who emerged as the fifth starter after the players and the media votes were tallied.

    In the end, however, it wasn’t Young who Lillard beat out for the final spot. According to the final tally, New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson was tied with Lillard with a weighted score of 3.75. The fan votes were the tie-breaker and with Dame clearing Brunson by nearly 800,000 votes, it was the former who won the final starting spot.

    For the most part, Lillard was on the receiving end of congratulatory messages from fans who believe that the now-eight-time All-Star deserves his place in the starting lineup:

    A lot of other fans, however, could not stomach the fact that Lillard was voted a starter over Jalen Brunson:

    There’s obviously still a lot of Dame non-believers out there.
