The Milwaukee Bucks acquired Damian Lillard in a trade before the start of the 2023-2024 season from the Portland Trail Blazers in a three-team deal with the Phoenix Suns. Lillard has been one of the best scorers in the league for a very long time.
Damian Lillard is 34 years old. This season with the Bucks, he is averaging 25.8 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 7.5 APG, and is also shooting 45.2% percent from the field. Lillard could be traded this offseason if Milwaukee flames out in the first round of the NBA playoffs once again.
ESPN’s Bobby Marks Lists Milwaukee Bucks Damian Lillard As a Player Who Is Eligible For a Contract Extension This Offseason
This offseason, there will be many different players who are eligible for a new contract. Bobby Marks of ESPN said:
“The veteran players eligible this offseason include Doncic, Young, Fox, Jackson Jr., Nikola Jokic, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, Darius Garland, Ja Morant, Tyler Herro, Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum and Kristaps Porzingis.”
Damian Lillard could get a two-year $112.6 million deal from the Bucks this offseason. It would be interesting to see whether or not he would sign that deal. There are a lot of variables in this. Lillard is the second-best player on the team outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Other Contracts
Damian Lillard is still under contract for the 2025-2026 season. However, after that, he would have a player option for the 2026-2027 season. If Lillard declines that option, he will be a free agent after next season. If not, then he would be a free agent after the 2026-2027 season.
If he does not sign the contract extension this offseason, there could be a chance that the Bucks will decide to trade him this offseason. Outside of the crazy Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors, Lillard’s potential contract extension could be the second biggest story for this franchise after the 2024-2025 NBA season ends.
