It’s no secret that the Milwaukee Bucks front office has been working hard behind the scenes to make the necessary improvements to their squad ahead of the NBA trade deadline. It’s also a known fact that this team has a significant shortage of trade assets following their blockbuster trade deal with the Portland Trail Blazers last summer to acquire the services of All-NBA point guard Damian Lillard.
One of their biggest available assets right now, though, comes in the form of veteran big man Bobby Portis.
REPORT: Milwaukee Bucks’ Trade Stance on Bobby Portis
The Bucks will need to give up something if they want to make a significant addition to their roster. That something could come in the form of 6-foot-10 big man Bobby Portis, who has been an integral part of Milwaukee’s second unit this season.
NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports recently shed some light on Milwaukee’s trade stance on Portis, and it appears that the Bucks aren’t ruling out the possibility of parting ways with the 28-year-old before Thursday’s deadline:
“Milwaukee, sources said, is going to think long and hard before sacrificing Portis in any deal at this deadline,” Fischer reported.
According to this report, the Bucks aren’t going to let Portis go unless they get a substantial return. However, perhaps the bigger takeaway here is that Milwaukee is indeed gauging the possibility of trading away the former Arkansas standout.
