Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers recently labeled Andre Jackson Jr. as the team’s next “weapon” before their 125-112 loss against the Portland Trail Blazers yesterday.
Speaking to reporters during a postgame interview after the Utah Jazz match, Rivers praised Jackson for his upside and for earning his trust in the rotation.
“We’re just trying to get him to be a threat more, running the floor he had one where he ran to the corner and Giannis ran it out of bounds. That could have seen him get a wide-open dunk,” Rivers said about Jackson.
“He is fast, so that’s a weapon for us, he can outrun anybody and we feel if we get a rebound with his speed he can stretch the floor for us and we’re going to do that more,” he added.
Andre Jackson Jr. bounces back after getting ejected in the Milwaukee Bucks-Utah Jazz match
Andre Jackson Jr. picked up a Flagrant 2 in the final minute against the Utah Jazz last Monday for excessive and unnecessary contact on Collin Sexton’s drive. The former UConn standout left the game with six points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals on 3-for-3 shooting from the field.
“Late in the game, my opinion, the refs were probably trying to keep the game clean,” Rivers said about Jackson’s ejection via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “They were getting into it and obviously I think they wanted them off the floor so nothing happened. So I get it. I didn’t think that’s a flagrant 2 but, you know, I think that’s the reason.”
Jackson had slightly better numbers against the Portland Trail Blazers, putting up nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists on 3-for-3 shooting from the field, and he didn’t get ejected this time.
