Milwaukee Bucks star guard Damian Lillard had a triple-double Thursday night against the Miami Heat — until he did not.
Lillard seemed to have finally secured a rare triple-double when he grabbed a rebound with a little under four minutes left in regulation. That would have been his 10th rebound of the contest but it was taken away later when it was deemed that Bucks big man Brook Lopez got the board instead.
The Bucks’ official X account (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) made a post saying that it should count as a rebound for Lillard but later appeared to admit that it was not Dame’s board.
“jk 😔,” the Bucks shared on X.

Replays show that Lopez and Lillard both had their hands on the ball following a miss from the Heat. Lopez took his hands off the leather to let Lillard get the ball downcourt but apparently that was not enough to qualify as a rebound for Lillard, who torched the Heat for 29 points on 9-for-21 shooting from the field with 11 assists and nine boards through 36 minutes of action. He also came up with two steals for a complete night in the Bucks’ 125-96 victory.
Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo produced a total of 25 points to go with 12 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 32 minutes while making 10 of his 18 attempts from the floor.
The Bucks sustain their momentum at the expense of the beleaguered Heat
The Bucks’ Miami takedown not only added woes to a Heat team dealing with off-the-court drama with Jimmy Butler but also improved Milwaukee’s record to 25-17 overall.
Moreover, the Bucks have extended their win streak to five games. Up ahead for Lillard and the Bucks is a four-game road trip that begins on Saturday versus the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome in Inglewood.
