Alex McGough is back with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL after not signing a reserves/futures contract with the Green Bay Packers following their Wild Card Round defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles.

McGough, 29, has spent the last two seasons on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. As a reserve player, the FIU product split time between quarterback and wide receiver. In 2024, he was officially listed as one of the team’s wide receivers.

Before signing with the Green Bay Packers, McGough won two USFL titles with the Birmingham Stallions in 2022 and 2023. He also won MVP in 2023 after throwing 2,104 yards, 20 touchdowns, and five interceptions for a 108.3 passer rating.

The former Green Bay Packers signal-caller will join J’Mar Smith and Matt Corral in the Birmingham Stallions’ quarterback room. They will open their UFL campaign against the DC Defenders on March 30.

A quick look at the Green Bay Packers’ current QB room

Losing Alex McGough is not a huge deal for the Green Bay Packers, as they still have Jordan Love, Malik Willis, and Sean Clifford as their quarterbacks.

Jordan Love went 268-for-425 on his passes for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions for a QBR of 69.2 percent. He only played 15 regular season games due to injuries.

Malik Willis was Love’s primary backup, and the former Tennessee Titans man went 40-for-54 on his passes for 550 yards and three touchdowns.
