Former Milwaukee Brewers star shortstop Willy Adames seems to be enjoying his time on the West Coast, with his new team, the San Francisco Giants. Adames, who declined the Brewers’ $21.05 million qualifying offer and decided to ink a seven-year $182 million with the National League West division club, was recently spotted with Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemsk
The second-year Warriors guard shared a photo of him with Adames during what appears to be a Warriors practice. Adames then reposted that picture with a caption that read: “My guy.”
Willy Adames starting new career chapter after leaving Milwaukee
Adames leaving the Brewers was not really a big surprise, especially after the season he just had with Milwaukee. In what turned out to be his final year with the Brewers, Adames hit .251/.331/.462 with career-highs in home runs (32) and stolen bases (21). His 74 RBIs in 2024 are also the most in his career in a season, thus far. Although his strikeout rate in 2024 (25.1%) was just about his career average (27.2%), it was the third season in a row that he decreased that number.
The Giants are hoping that Adames’ bat and defense will help them keep in step with the juggernauts in their division AKA the Los Angeles Dodgers and also the San Diego Padres.
Adames will get to face his former team in a four-game series at Oracle Park in San Francisco in April. He will also be back at his old stomping grounds for an August series versus the Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
