The Milwaukee Brewers are circling potential replacements for free-agent shortstop, Willy Adames. Adames’ departure from the Brewers will considerably weaken their offense. While Milwaukee is getting antsy to find an alternative, the team also needs to come to terms with their limited capital.
The Brewers seem to have almost made their decision in Yoan Moncada, third baseman for the Chicago White Sox. Moncada is a free-agent now after the White Sox turned down his $25 million club option. Moncada contributed heavily to Chicago’s performance in the previous season, despite the player being plagued with injuries.
The Milwaukee Brewers are definitely not the only team who are eager to bring in Yoan Moncada. According to Francys Romero, there are more than five teams who are interested in the 29-year-old Cuban player. The Toronto Blue Jays, the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners are among these teams who are also enthusiastic about getting Moncada.
Moncada has been playing really good baseball throughout his 203 appearances in his nine-year career in professional basketball. In the previous season, Moncada was riddled with injuries and was unable to perform to his potential. Despite this, Yoan Moncada is still a top player, with his market value estimated to be at $1.5 million for one-year.
Thomas Pannone Agreed To Milwaukee Brewers’ Terms For Minor League
A few days back, Thomas Pannone, former player for the Toronto Blue Jays, agreed to terms with the Milwaukee Brewers. As per the agreement, Pannone will join the minor league, while also enjoying an invite to the major-league camp. This is of course, not the first time that Pannone has played for the Brewers. The left-handed pitcher was a part of the Milwaukee Brewers back in 2023, and chose free agency earlier in the month.
In the previous MLB season, Pannone played for the Chicago Cubs, as well as the New York Yankees. The 30-year-old pitcher is not the only former player from the Toronto Blue Jays who is on the free-agent market.
Quite recently, another Toronto pitcher, Yusei Kikuchi, managed to get a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Angels for $65 million. Pannone made quite an impression in professional baseball when he played with the Blue Jays, managing an impressive 5.43 ERA in 49 games. Following this, the pitcher signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels, before going on to play a single game for the Milwaukee Brewers in the next year.
