The Milwaukee Brewers made a flurry of roster transactions on Thursday, March 27 as they were setting their Opening Day roster. Moves like Jose Quintana accepting a minor league option assignment to continue his build up, Chad Patrick making the MLB roster, and Jake Bauers being added to the 40-man roster were the main headlines. Lost in that shuffle was the fact that outfielder Brewer Hicklen was designated for assignment.
Since Brewer Hicklen was DFA’d by the Milwaukee Brewers, a team has swooped in and acquired him via trade.

29 year old Hicklen is now a member of the Detroit Tigers as the Brewers traded him for cash. Hicklen has appeared in just nine total MLB games throughout his career, with six coming in 2022 with the Kansas City Royals and three last year with the Brewers. He does have a track record of success in the minor leagues which includes a 22 home run, 72 RBI, and 44 stolen base campaign last year.
Where will Brewer Hicklen fit in on the Detroit Tigers?

The Tigers outfield group has taken a hit this year as Parker Meadows, Wenceel Pérez and Matt Vierling all began the year on the injured list. Due to this Detroit already signed Manuel Margot, who began spring training with the Milwaukee Brewers. Hicklen was optioned to Triple-A upon being acquired by Detroit, but he easily could see big league playing time in the near future.
