The Milwaukee Brewers earned two shutout victories on Saturday. One was an 8-0 win over the Athletics while the other was a 4-0 victory against the Los Angeles Angles.
Milwaukee’s triumph over the Athletics was certainly one that fans should be excited about. Opening Day starter Freddy Peralta pitched 5.1 innings of shutout ball while allowing five hits and striking out four. Perhaps best of all, he did not walk a batter.
First baseman Rhys Hoskins clubbed his sixth home run of the spring, which is tied for the Major League lead in both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues. Catcher William Contreras also went yard.
But the win over Los Angeles saw a couple Brewers players suffer injuries that have some fans concerned.
Milwaukee Brewers Starters Brice Turang and Tobias Myers Suffered Injuries

Brice Turang was scheduled to play in Milwaukee’s game against Los Angeles on Saturday. Now the favorite to begin the season as the Brewers’ starting shortstop, it appears the extra work at his probable new position has taken a little bit of a toll on his shoulder.
Pat Murphy scratched him from the lineup due to shroulder fatigue, but revealed after the game that the Gold Glove second baseman was medically cleared to play. The 2024 NL Manager of the Year was just being cautious. With the regular season starting in just 12 days, he wanted to avoid one of his key starters getting hurt.
If, indeed, Turang does make the move to short (replacing Willy Adames), it is believed that Joey Ortiz would move to second base while Oliver Dunn and others would platoon at third.
But while Murphy was optimistic about Turang, he was far less so about another one of his starting pitchers: Tobias Myers.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Pat Murphy Is Concerned About the Tobias Myers Injury

Myers started the game against the Angels and got through 1.2 inning before calling for an athletic trainer to come out to the mound. He was removed from the game with what is being called oblique discomfort.
Apparently, Myers felt a slight strain on his follow through on one of his pitches in the second inning. Though he tried to pitch through it, he said something just did not feel right.
After the game, Murphy told reporters, “We’re really concerned. I mean, whenever you’re talking about an oblique, whether it’s mild or whatever it is, he had to come out of the game, it’s concerning. … But we have to get further testing to find out really what that is.”
He also said that he expects Myers will miss some time, though imaging will determine how bad the injury is. Aaron Ashby is currently in the midst of a two-week shutdown from baseball activities due to his own oblique injury.
For his part, though, Myers told reporters that he did not think it was too serious:
Tobias Myers will undergo imaging to determine the severity of his left oblique injury, but he’s optimistic. Brewers already projected to have starters Aaron Ashby, DL Hall, Brandon Woodruff and Robert Gasser on the injured list to open the season. pic.twitter.com/xhSXgmVLVN

During the above interview, he said that he did some strength tests on the oblique and there was “nothing to be concerned about there.”
Milwaukee has already seen Ashby and DL Hall suffer injuries this spring, and Robert Gasser will not be ready until August.
The team’s starting pitching depth is already being tested.
